Work for us

The enthusiasm, commitment and positive attitude of our staff is fundamental to Centigen’s ability to thrive.

Every contribution by every member of our team is highly valued and respected, regardless of their position within the business, and we encourage buy-in from all those who proudly reflect our brand.

Hard work and ambition is rewarded and we firmly believe in helping all our employees to develop their skills and personal qualities to the level they wish to achieve.

Whether they aspire to be leaders and supervisors, are content to deliver quality front-line services, or work hard behind the scenes day after day, we know that a happy workforce will deliver great services to our customers.

Why work for us?

We spend a huge amount of time at work and, whilst we have different personal goals, some things are common to all of us – to earn a decent wage, and be happy and fulfilled in what we do.

If you're after a satisfying job that fits around your family commitments, plus the confidence of working for a fair and caring employer, Centigen is bound to have something to offer you. Equally, if you're looking for more of a challenge and you're prepared to push yourself, we'll give you the support, training and encouragement you need.

Centigen is different

All the profit Centigen makes is gifted to its parent housing association and used to provide homes for people who can’t afford to rent privately or take on a full mortgage, and to develop the communities where they live.

By joining Centigen, you are not only delivering a quality service to your customers, but also helping to improve the lives of others.

If our ethos reflects your own personal values, the opportunity to join the Centigen team could be exactly what you're looking for.

Apprenticeships

We are strong supporters of training and apprenticeships as we think it’s a fabulous way to help people into work.

Joining Centigen’s apprenticeship programme gives you a taste of working in industry. You’ll take home a regular income and will have formal training, alongside daily learning and you’ll work towards a recognised qualification.

If you're inspired by this and can answer ‘yes’ to all the following questions, then an apprenticeship could be for you:

  • Would you like to gain essential work experience?
  • Do you want to learn new skills?
  • Would you like to achieve a formal qualification?
  • Would you like to earn a regular wage?
  • Are you over 16 years old?
  • Are you available to work for at least 30 hours per week?
  • Are you not in full-time education?

Rewards and recognition

Centigen relies on the quality of its staff and their desire to do a good job for their customers. It is, therefore, important for us to recognise the massive contribution they make to our success, and even more so if they ‘go the extra mile’ in pursuit of delivering quality service.

We believe strongly in the value of saying ‘thank you’ for a job well done and we our annual Staff Recognition event brings all colleagues together to celebrate the achievements of individual members of staff and our high-performing teams which have gone above and beyond what's expected of their role.

We also hold an event every year, designed to bring teams and departments together for a day of fun and a bit of team bonding.

Learning and development

We are committed to training and developing staff to do their jobs, to further their careers and achieve their full potential, and our Investors in People ‘Gold’ award shows that we mean what we say.

If you need to learn new skills to do your job we will look at ways to provide this. It might be through in-house tutoring, formal learning with an external provider or maybe on-going one-to-one mentoring with a more experienced member of the team.

You may decide you would like to work towards a formal qualification and, if it's relevant to the job you do, we will do all we can to support you.

Equality and diversity

We believe everyone should be offered the same opportunities, regardless of their age, sex, marital status, disability, race, colour, nationality, religion or ethnic origin. We are, therefore, keen to encourage interest in Centigen from all areas of our community.

We are a 'Disability Confident employer' which means we have agreed to meet five commitments regarding the employment, retention, training and career development of disabled employees. It also means we guarantee to interview any disabled person who applies for a job with us and who meets the minimum criteria for the role.
